Shri B. K. Parthasarathi, born on September 3, 1959, in Roddam, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, is a prominent politician affiliated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He has had a long and varied political career, beginning in 1996 when he became the Zilla Parishad Chairman for Anantapur district.
His political ascent continued when he was elected to the Lok Sabha as the Member of Parliament for Hindupur in 1999, defeating Congress candidate S. Gangadhar by a significant margin of 134,636 votes. He served until 2004, when he lost his seat to G. Nizamuddin by a narrow margin of just 1,840 votes.
Parthasarathi later transitioned to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, winning elections from the Penukonda constituency in both 2009 and 2014. His victory in 2009 was achieved with a margin of 14,385 votes against Congress’s K T Sreedhar. However, in 2019, he was defeated by Malagundla Sankaranarayana of the YSR Congress Party.
In addition to his legislative roles, he became the district president of the TDP in 2009 and was appointed to the board of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in April 2018 Parthasarathi’s political influence was further reaffirmed when he successfully contested the 2024 general elections to return to the Lok Sabha representing Hindupur.
On a personal note, he is married to B. K. Kalavathi and has six children. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Bangalore University.
