Yadav, Shri Giridhari

Shri Giridhari Yadav is an Indian politician born on April 14, 1961, in Banka, Bihar. He is currently a member of the Lok Sabha representing the Banka constituency and is affiliated with the Janata Dal (United) political party. Yadav has had a long political career, being elected multiple times to both the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the Lok Sabha.

Early Life and Education

Giridhari Yadav was born to Dhano Yadav, a school teacher in Indian Railways, and Jagti Devi. He is one of seven children in his family. Yadav completed his Bachelor of Arts in History from Bhagalpur University in 1982, followed by a Master’s degree in History from DHG University, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, and later earned an LLB degree in law from Bhagalpur University at the age of 33.

Political Career

Yadav began his political journey as a youth coordinator in the Indian Youth Congress during the Rajiv Gandhi government (1983-1985) and was closely associated with politicians like Arjun Singh. He later joined the Janata Dal and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1995 and the Lok Sabha in 1996. He was a founding member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in 1997 but later joined Janata Dal (United) in 2010. Throughout his career, he has been elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly four times and to the Lok Sabha four times.

Family

Giridhari Yadav is married to Sumitra Yadav, and they have three children: one daughter and two sons​.
