Shri Alok Sharma is a prominent political figure in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was elected as the Mayor of Bhopal, serving from 2015 to 2020, and has been actively involved in municipal politics since 1994 when he was first elected as a councillor. Despite losing the assembly seat in Bhopal North during the last elections, Sharma remains a significant leader in the state.
In 2024, Sharma was surprisingly chosen by the BJP to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal, replacing Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur. His selection came as a surprise, even to himself, but he has expressed strong confidence in his ability to win and in the BJP’s prospects of securing all 29 parliamentary seats in Madhya Pradesh.
Sharma has focused on urban development projects in Bhopal, particularly the ongoing metro work. If elected, he plans to extend the metro service to Sehore, enhancing connectivity in the region. He has also taken a strong stance against the opposition Congress and believes the BJP will dominate the upcoming elections.
Financially, Sharma has substantial assets, including agricultural and commercial properties, totaling over ₹5.8 crores. He also holds investments in companies and movable assets like vehicles and gold
