Gopal Jee Thakur

Gopal Jee Thakur is a Member of Parliament (MP) from Darbhanga, Bihar, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Born on October 15, 1969, in Parari, Bihar, he holds a postgraduate degree and is a social worker and agriculturist by profession. He has been active in politics for several years, beginning with his election as a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Benipur constituency in 2010.

In 2019, Thakur was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha, where he has been actively raising various issues related to the development of Darbhanga and Bihar. Some of his key efforts in Parliament include advocating for the establishment of an IIT and NIT in Darbhanga, promoting the production of makhana (fox nuts), and pushing for the conservation of the Mithila Institute of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Sanskrit. He has also been vocal about flood control in Bihar, the inclusion of Maithili as an elective subject, and improving Sanskrit education​(

Thakur is known for his clean political image, with no criminal cases registered against him, which is relatively rare in Indian politics. He has declared assets worth approximately ₹1.93 crore and liabilities of about ₹10.39 lakh
