Dimple Yadav is an Indian politician associated with the Samajwadi Party (SP). She was born on January 15, 1978, in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Dimple Yadav is married to Akhilesh Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the current president of the Samajwadi Party. She is the daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav, a veteran politician and founder of the Samajwadi Party.
Early Life and Education
Dimple Yadav was born into a Rajput family. Her father, Ram chandra singh Rawat was an army officer, and her upbringing involved moving to various places across India due to her father’s profession. She completed her schooling at the Army Public School in Lucknow and later attended Lucknow University.
Political Career
Dimple Yadav’s political career began in 2009 when she contested a by-election for the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat but lost to actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar of the Indian National Congress. However, she entered Parliament for the first time in 2012, representing the Kannauj constituency in Uttar Pradesh, where she won unopposed in a by-election after her husband, Akhilesh Yadav, vacated the seat following his appointment as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
During her tenure as a Member of Parliament (MP), Dimple Yadav worked on issues related to women and children’s welfare, education, and health. She lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Kannauj seat.

Dimple Yadav married Akhilesh Yadav in 1999, and they have three children. Despite her low-profile approach, she is seen as an important figure in the Samajwadi Party, often considered a bridge between the old guard and the new generation within the party.
