Shri Muhammed Hamdullah Sayeed

Shri Muhammed Hamdullah Sayeed, born on April 11, 1982, in Andrott, Lakshadweep, is a prominent Indian politician associated with the Indian National Congress. He is the son of P.M. Sayeed, a long-time Congress leader and former MP, and Rahmath Sayeed. Hamdullah completed his law degree (B.S.L. LLB) from the Indian Law Society Law College in Pune in 2005​.

Political Career

Hamdullah entered politics at a young age, becoming the youngest Member of Parliament (MP) when he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 at just 26 years old. He represented Lakshadweep, which is known for being India’s smallest parliamentary constituency​.

He served as an MP until 2014, during which time he was involved in various initiatives and programs aimed at the development of Lakshadweep​.

After losing the 2014 and 2019 elections to P.P. Mohammed Faizal, he made a significant comeback in 2024, reclaiming his seat by winning with a margin of 2,647 votes​.

This victory marked a notable return for the Congress party in Lakshadweep, after a 15-year gap in parliamentary representation​(
