He hails from a humble background in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, and has climbed the ranks through sheer determination, becoming the National Secretary and spokesperson for the party. Rai played a crucial role in the formation of the first Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh in 2012 and continues to be an important media face of the party.
