D.M. Kathir Anand

D.M. Kathir Anand is a prominent member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the current Member of Parliament representing the Vellore constituency in Tamil Nadu. He is the son of Durai Murugan, the DMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Water Resources. Born on January 19, 1975, Kathir Anand holds an MBA in International Business from Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio, USA.

Kathir Anand’s political career took off when he contested and won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Vellore, securing 47.3% of the votes. His campaign has not been without controversy, as he has faced allegations of making derogatory comments during a public event and accusations of tax evasion. Despite these issues, he remains an influential figure within the DMK, supported by his father’s significant role in Tamil Nadu politics.

In terms of assets, Kathir Anand declared significant wealth in his election affidavit, including properties and commercial buildings across various locations such as Vellore, Chennai, and Bangalore, amounting to over ₹22 crores​
