Shreyas Mahesh Patel

Shreyas Mahesh Patel is a prominent political figure affiliated with the Indian National Congress, currently based in Hassan, Karnataka. He is the grandson of the late G. Puttaswamy Gowda, a notable political leader who defeated former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda in the 1999 Lok Sabha elections. This political lineage positions Shreyas within a significant legacy in Karnataka politics.

Shreyas recently contested the Holenarasipura Assembly seat in the May 2023 elections, where he performed strongly, securing approximately 45.8% of the votes but narrowly lost to H.D. Revanna, who received around 47.5%. His close performance has garnered attention and support within the Congress party, leading to speculation about him being a candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections against Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of H.D. Deve Gowda.

In terms of his background, Shreyas’s father, Mahesh, passed away early in his life, and his mother, S.G. Anupama, has previously contested elections as well. This familial connection further enhances his profile as a successor to his grandfather’s political legacy(

Shreyas is seen as a potential leader for the Vokkaliga community and has made efforts to build relationships with various groups, including Dalits and minorities, which could play a crucial role in his political endeavors.
