Kirti Vardhan Singh, a prominent politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), represents Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. He was born on March 1, 1966, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, into a political and aristocratic family from Mankapur. His father, Raja Anand Singh, was a politician, and his mother, Rani Veena Singh, comes from a royal family background.
Kirti Vardhan Singh completed his M.Sc. in Geology from Lucknow University. His career began in 1998 when he was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha. He later won seats in the 14th, 16th, and 17th Lok Sabha. Initially, he was associated with the Samajwadi Party (SP) but shifted to the BJP in 2014, after which he continued to represent Gonda.
Apart from politics, Singh has been actively involved in environmental conservation, rural development, and promoting education in underdeveloped areas. He is particularly passionate about wildlife and environmental preservation, having won a significant legal battle against illegal sand mining in Uttar Pradesh. In 2024, Singh was re-elected and became a junior minister in the Ministry of Environment and Forests, and the Ministry of External Affairs.
Singh also has a unique interest in adventure sports, such as paragliding and powered hang gliding, which led him to gain attention for organizing historic aero-sport events in India.
